Information we process

  • Account email, password hash, verification and password-reset information, sessions and security events.
  • Destination URLs, short codes, private titles, folders, availability settings, custom domains and import files or parsed import rows.
  • Click time, IP address, browser or user-agent information, referrer and derived country/device classifications where available.
  • API token hashes and metadata, request identifiers used to avoid duplicate links, moderation reports and support correspondence.
  • Service-use events such as registration, creating a first link or returning to the workspace.

Link owners can view aggregate reports about their links. Customer reports do not expose raw visitor IP addresses or full referrer URLs. Approximate visitor counts are estimates, not identified people.

Why we use it

We use account and link data to provide the service, send verification or recovery messages and respond to requests. We use technical and security information to prevent abuse, investigate incidents and maintain reliability, and click data to provide link statistics.

Where applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, these purposes rely on providing the requested service, legitimate interests in security and service operation, and compliance with legal obligations. If we introduce an optional activity that requires consent, it must be addressed separately rather than inferred from this notice.

Recipients and destinations

Authorized operators and providers of hosting, email delivery, infrastructure and certificates may process information needed for their work. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or to investigate abuse. We do not sell personal information for advertising.

Following a short link connects you to a separate destination site, which receives connection information and applies its own privacy practices. A custom hostname and its verification DNS record are public; certificate issuance may make the hostname publicly discoverable. Avoid putting personal or secret information in URLs.

Retention

The current raw click-detail retention setting is 365 days. Cleanup runs daily in batches, so it is not an instantaneous deletion guarantee. Service-use events are retained for 365 days. Aggregate lifetime click counters and link configurations are kept separately.

Account information, imports and duplicate-request records remain while needed to operate the account and preserve published links. Security, moderation and administrative audit records currently have no automatic expiry; retention is reviewed when handling a deletion request or resolving an incident. Backup copies follow the infrastructure recovery cycle and are not immediately rewritten after a live-data change. Ask us for the retention information relevant to your request.

Your requests and choices

Email support@uk.app from your account address to request access, correction, export, deletion or account closure. We may verify ownership without asking for your password. Depending on applicable law, you may also object to processing, request restriction or portability, withdraw any consent you gave, or complain to your data protection authority. We respond within the time required by applicable law.

We will explain any information that needs to be retained for an applicable legal requirement, security investigation or unresolved dispute. Closing an account can affect published redirects; tell us which links are involved.

Location, security and children

The operator is in the United States, and infrastructure or providers may process information in other countries. Contact us for details of the locations and any applicable transfer arrangements; this notice does not assert a particular certification or transfer mechanism.

We use HTTPS, hashed account passwords, restricted administration and scoped API tokens. No system is immune to incidents. The service is not directed to children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information so we can assess and address it.
